Well, it could be worse

Sep. 6th, 2006 | 07:10 pm
mood: okay okay
music: XM Radio - VOX

Called in sick to job 1 today and went to the doctor. I still don't have carpel tunnel, but my tendonitis in both wrists/forearms is flaring up. Doctor shocked me when he signed me off work for 7 days! So don't go back to job 1 until a week from tomorrow.

At least got my ergo keyboard working so I can type on that at home.

Eating applesauce and it seems very...tasteless. I seem to recall applesauce being tarter, and I'm eating the natural stuff with no added sugar. Not very apple-y either (though I suspect I am highly spoiled when it comes to apples. for a spell growing up we had a farm as a vacation house and it had an orchard. nothing can top homemade apple sauce and homemade cider, nothing *drools in memory of it*)

Going to go get ready for job 2. I'm going to see about picking up hours there when I'm off job 1. Might as well, I'll have the time and the money will be nice.

Life, universe, etc

mood: exhausted exhausted
music: Outside noises

Business law seems OK so far. Only one class in, but ok so far.

My wrists have really been bothering me lately. I've spent the last few days at work doped up on Vicodin and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Take care of your joints people!

Have really loved SGA and missed it last week.

Tired, going to go rest now.

PARTY IN THE STREETS

Aug. 16th, 2006 | 07:19 pm
mood: good good
music: tv from the living room

Ok, maybe not that, but party at least until 845 when I have to leave for 2nd job. My final is over with!

2 weeks until my next class starts (Business Law). Should be lots of fun.

Another reason why I love Gruff Rhys...

Aug. 15th, 2006 | 08:53 pm
mood: excited excited

Gwn Mi Wn, martial arts paired to the Welsh language.

Final tomorrow in math, not too worried. As long as I don't fail....

And I was right, I did mess up my schedule so that I can't take one of my classes this term, so it is only Business Law that I can take this semester. Ah well, will give me time to work on getting my shit together in regards to credit for prior learning.

Why oh why do you taunt me creators of Stargate: Atlantis? They've announced when season 9 for Stargate SG1 will be announced, why not Atlantis??

At least Twitch City will soon be released on DVD! :D

Still like the new job....

Oh CRAP

Aug. 9th, 2006 | 05:49 pm
location: college
mood: nervous nervous
music: professor

1. EEP, final next week in math

2. Work until 10 tomorrow at second job

3. Just looked at how much I owe for tution, over $5000. Must do a FAFSA soon to get money to pay for it, possibly beg my parents for help and/or my uncle.

4. I forgot the name of one of the courses I'm taking next term, and if it is the one I think it is, I may have to drop it because it is on a Monday and I thought it was going to be on Tuesday. Which means that I would be working when I have class at the new job :(

5. The text book for the class I know I'm taking is listed at costing $157.00 at the Edgewood bookstore. Please oh please let eBay have it cheaper (abe.com has it for 112, which is much less painful!).

6. EEP.

7. EEEP.

8. My tummy hurts from stress.

Upshot - have next Wed off work so I'll be able to study all day for my final. And new SGA on Friday. And David Hewlett looked hot in spoiler pics for upcoming SGA.

EEEE!

location: roomies computer

music: Something or other my roommate is watching on TV

Much excitedness upon my part! St Mirren beat Motherwell 2-0 today and we are now the top of the SPL!!!!!!. EEEEEE! Ok, its only probably until tomorrow when Celtic play Hearts, but if they draw, we're still the top. And if Celtic win, we'll be down to second; however if Hearts win, barring them scoring 3 or more points, we'll be on top still. And to make things even sweeter, Falkirk are second and the Dark Duo (Rangers and Celtic) are 3rd and 4th respectively. And! Next week St Mirren are playing Celtic.

EEEEE!

Must scrape together the money to visit Scotland next spring at least for a week to make it to a match at Love Street (St Mirren's home ground) before it goes under the wrecking hammer (preferably after having been sold for a nice chunk of change that will eliminate St Mirren's debt and allow the building of a nice stadium). Because, dude, SAINT MIRREN TIL I DIE! (and now I wonder, where did my St Mirren shirt go? I can't find it anywhere :().

SGA - Sateda

location: roomies computer
mood: content content
music: Something or other my roommate is watching on TV

Really good ep. Enjoyed it immensely, especially Rodney getting shot in the butt *grins*. Must watch it again soon when feeling more mentally alert and able to remember specifics, unlike today where my brain is going "WHEE!" all over the freaking place.

But! We find out more about Ronon (which is good), had [info]bipagan going into fits of hysterical happiness over the Ronon content(very very good!) and awkward emotional John (anyone else want to give him a big hug? ;))

Will watch it tomorrow on DVR :D (and wait for my computer to come back so I can make icons :D Have a paid account, might as well use it.)

And new icon grabbed from [info]clez. Why don't more people make more icons of Joe Flanigan smiling? I dig the smile.

Much better...

Aug. 3rd, 2006 | 08:40 pm
location: roomies computer
mood: good good
music: silence!

Much much better mood now. Had a good shift at the new job, I really like the guys I'll be taking care of and they are really nice, so that definately helps.

Just sitting at home now with a glass of wine and no noise other than the ceiling fan. I love quite sometimes.

Went over to [info]bipagan's house last night and had a good time. I was bad and skipped class, but I needed to cheer up and it definately did cheer me up. Plus! 3 small white dogs!

New SGA tomorrow night! Can't wait! *twitch* Much manly Ronon! (and hopefully a fair bit of John as well - what can I say? I'm easy...)

Uh... I've reached the decision in the time I've been without my own computer - that I need a new DVD player, ideally one that is region free and will play DivX files. My grandma has one and when I was up it was really nice to watch downloaded eps on a TV instead of a screen. (hee, that was fun, my grandma decided that she wanted to get a DVD player to appease my aunt so she had me pick one out for her. Got a Sanyo (I think...) that was a combo DVD/VCR).

Ok, going to go play online and stare at pretty pictures of Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett. Being shallow is a blast.

Posting this on my lunch break. Right now? Work sucks. It is truly truly pissing me off. I can feel the muscle right under my left eye twitch like it always does when I'm feeling stressed out. I'm finding that I'm having to talk myself into going to work frequently and that isn't good. It's not that I don't like my job, for the most part it is fine, just right now its bugging the crap out of me.

And tonight I train at my new job from 430 to 830. Life is fun.

Sigh. At least the front desk at school (where I'm logging in now) has a bowl of mini-candybars *eats another one*. Chocolate and sugar - you're my friend.

Ok, back to hell work.

Hello from Minnesota!

Jul. 22nd, 2006 | 11:06 am
location: St Paul Public Library
mood: excited excited
music: Typing of keys

*waves hello* Logging in from the St Paul Public Library since my laptop's motherboard died yesterday *sighs*. At least Dell said they were going to fix it for free (if it is the motherboard, it will be motherboard number 3 that the computer will have had...).

Went over to [info]jackiekjono's house last night, which was fun, and saw The Wild Wild West and various other things. Saw SGA, which was good, although this is about the 3rd cliffhanger in a row from them but considerably less evil than oh, say, the season 2 ender.

And I LOVE 89.3 The Current. Public radio does modern music! I LOVE IT! *sighs happily*.

Ok, off to do touristy things like go over to Eagle Street and poke around the shops there and maybe take a trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts again (went yesterday with my Grandma, didn't see all of what I wanted to see but we were both hungry and a little footsore :)). But before heading Minneapolis-wards, going to go to the Boca Chica Taco house and get a bean burrito and a quesadilla from the only fast food place my parents ever frequented when I was a child.

Went to the dr monday and had blood taken, just looked down and saw the gigantic green bruise where the lady took blood. I thought it hurt more than giving blood did.

Leaving tomorrow for 6 days away. from. work!

Have DVR set up to catch SGA and SG1 on Friday, so we're all set! :)

Ok, back to paying attention in math class (internet in classroom=dangerous)

EEE!

Jul. 18th, 2006 | 04:37 pm
location: happy place
mood: ecstatic ecstatic
music: SGA - 38 Minutes

Just got a call from my old job (my "I worked there for three and a half years and left on good terms" job)! I'll be doing home assisted living with developmentally disabled adults, mostly overnights, which will be nice. They said as long as all my paperwork/background checks go through, I have a new part time job! Clearly this is a sign of being slightly wacked in the head because I already have a 40 hour a week job and school, but I really need the money. Still. SQUEE!

Ok, got to start math homework for class tomorrow - not so squee. While watching SGA though - moreso squee!

Mmm...

Jul. 17th, 2006 | 10:00 pm
location: home
music: SGA - The Rising pt 1

Stargate Atlantis has eaten my brain! And no word yet on when tptb are going to release season 2 on DVD, but judging from the release date on season 1, it will probably be in November. Guess crappy quality downloads will have to do til then.

Saturday was the season premier for both SG1 and SGA. I thought that SGA was the better of the 2 premiers, better story line, cared about the characters more and the special effects were better.

I love fandom and all the crack it brings.

I *finally* got my car! All the safety things have been fixed and it runs. Which is nice. So today [info]bipagan and I went to A Room of One's Own and got bumper stickers. The ones I got are: one of those Darwin ones with the word "Darwin" inside a fish", "I'm straight but not narrow" and a picture one of a big fish terrorising little fist with another picture below that of the little fish chasing the big fish all with the caption of "Organize" - it's my favorite! [info]bipagan gave me one about banned books and found me a free one for a liberal radio station in Madison.

This heat? Really too hot and rather suckily looks like it will continue until next week. I'm going up to Minneapolis on Thursday and the heat is going to make things like walking around outside less enjoyable (unless of course you happen to like walking about in a sauna...). And if I can't suss out exactly why my ipod shuffle isn't showing up on my computer, the drive will be radio driven. Still - 6 days away from work! Cannot fucking WAIT. And neither can my wrists!

Loving Netflix though shaking my head in disbelief that they don't have due South on DVD.

Going to finish my wine, watch some more SGA (obsessive? moi? perish the thought! ;)) and sleep.

Huh

Jun. 20th, 2006 | 08:36 pm

mood: thoughtful thoughtful
music: Stargate Atlantis - The Gift

Just realised that for once in my LJ life, spanning several LJ-usernames, I know every single person on my friend list and have met them in person (excluding LJ communities I have friended) *pauses to see if world is still spinning*.

Fred the 3rd should arrive in Madison next Monday, just need to get the title transfered and temporary license plates on her. And try to talk myself out of wanting to get either "STMIRIN", "10TH DR" or "PAISLEY" on my license plate. Just need to get my Dad to fill out the form stating why he blacked out his name on the title transfer (realised that it would be better if the car were just in my name and then voided the form by crossing out his name) and the proof that the person who gave us the car owes nothing on the car. And also doing the little maintenance things on it like fixing the front seatbelts (driver has a lap belt but no shoulder harness and passenger has a shoulder harness but no lap belt). It'll be nice to have a car in my name for the first time! Pictures of Fred the 3rd may appear at some point in time in all of her silver 1995 Mercury Tracer beauty.

Got goodies at the Beadshow and only spent about 60.00, which isn't too bad considering that there was booth after booth of expensive beads and gems.

Final in math tomorrow, still not worried. Did the math and I would have to score around 30% on it to fail the class! School rulz!

Need to check to see if there are any good bands coming to the Madison area anytime soon, have a serious serious jones to go to a gig. It's been since December and this is the longest I've gone without going to a gig since 2003.

I miss Edinburgh. I don't miss Lee, but I really miss Edinburgh and Scotland in general. Sigh. Can't wait to get enough money to visit again. And I really miss Ireland. Ditto with the sigh and having enough money to visit them.

Ok, maybe it was a bad idea to go out on a Thursday night starting at nine. Especially when you start work at 730 in the morning and have a 10.5 hour shift tomorrow.

I'm so dead at work tomorrow. Did have fun tonight though.

On a different note, I had a cigarette tonight and remembered why I was glad that I quit. My mouth tastes weird and I smell bad. I'll really feel it tomorrow morning. Must remember not to smoke. Going to go SLEEP now like a good little girl and make it to work tomorrow. Oh, and drink water like it's going out of style.

blah blah blah

Jun. 10th, 2006 | 11:44 pm
mood: thoughtful thoughtful

Yay! [info]bipagan dyed my hair again! The first batch of purple fell right out (took a bath, noticed that there was dye streaming from the ends of my hair, sigh. Curse of having hair that is stick straight, fine and smooth - nothing *EVER* stays in my hair for very long. The one time I had my hair done up fancy in a salon they had to use so much hairspray to keep it in place that it didn't move....for 24 hours.). It looks good, though the next time I think I'll pick a purple dye that has a little less bright red in it. And to think all of these years I've avoided purple hair because purple hair is associated with my ex-flatmate Beth, the one with purple hair the entire time I lived with her.

Had a "DOH" moment tonight. Went back home to Mineral Point because of the big Bead & Button show in Milwaukee tomorrow (theoretically supposed to be one of the largest in the entire country)....only to look up what time they open tomorrow and find out that both my mother and I got the date wrong by a week. Grrr. Arrrrrgh. We both were really looking forward to it. Sigh. Will have to come home next week then, since I really want to go. Need to get some cheap Chinese fire polish glass crystals, they're nowhere near as shiny as Swarovski or Czech fire polish, but they are a hell of a lot cheaper (the ones we got at the Madison show ended up being $2.00 a strand compared to 50 cents a pop for the Swarovski (and is it really old school to type in a cent amount and look for the cent key on a keyboard? They took it away and put down the pound key instea....)). And also some Accuflex wire to string things onto. Possibly some Gossamer floss for bracelets (those little clasps take a lot of work to close.....elastic is great!).

Good thing about coming home is that I can get the remote for my TV and not have to control it going on and off and the volume via the TV itself (imagine a life without remotes! The horror! ;)) and some other little things like the lap top (internet access at home! *shock*) and some more knives and saucepans (one can never have too many knives and saucepans. Especially if there are 2 people cooking for themselves.)

And there is Peter! He is turning into quite the juvenille deliquent apparently. This morning he brought to the back door a still alive baby bunny. My dad warmed him up and set him outside again. I think Peter missed me. He was sitting at my feet earlier this evening and then actually sat on my lap, which he never does. I had forgotten what a gorgeous animal he is and how soft his fur is (think mink).

Haven't talked to Lee in 3 months. Feel better than I have since before October when shit first hit the fan and I should have twigged that something was up. I now know that that moment of clarity I had watching a travel show about going to Japan (something that if I had been going with him would not happen for years and years. Whenever I made plans for travelling he told me to not plan so big and get my hopes up. Pissed me off because well, I *KNOW* that I can't do everything I want to do when I travel someplace, I just like to get all the angles on what is going on and its fun to pretend and plan.) and going there alone and just knowing that I would not be with him, should have listened to my subconcious then. Weirdly enough my eczema has completely cleared up since I stopped stressing out over him. Strange that. If we were still together, next month would be our 3 year anniversary. Even if most of it was spent in different countries, gah, 3 years.

School is still going well. Haven't learned anything new so far, just jogged my memory about what I already knew. At least its an easy A (at this point I'm pretty sure the only way I could get an F would be to not turn in the last week of homework and fail the final to fail the class.) Have a 2 or 3 page double spaced paper due on Wed about the book "Innumeracy", which I still need to finish. The author is just ever so slightly a pompous jackass. 2 weeks left of class! One is review and the next is the final!

Put in to have my schedule changed so that on Saturdays I start at 0730. It feels so wrong to start at 0830 one day a week and 0730 the other 4 days.

Should go to bed in short order. Staying on the couch in the living room and my parents get up relatively early and it is already past midnight.

G'night y'all.

mood: energetic energetic
music: A ceiling fan.

Its been a very busy day today. Dragged [info]bipagan along with me to get my hair chopped for Locks for Love then decided it would be a good idea to dye it a light purplish color. The blackmail photographs are below in the page cut.

Look at that those photies! Mummie is that a real colour????? )

Moved in just fine. Hotter than hell, which rather sucked. Really broke right now, but working extra hours so next paycheck should be halfway decent. Hopefully. My Dad bought beer for the movers, 4 six-packs thinking that people would want a drink on a hot day after having moved 2 people's stuff in. Nope. In the end it was only my Dad and myself!

Direct TV was installed last week and DSL should have been installed today, unless TDS messed up. The pool at the apartment is great, its going to save the day when it gets really hot out.

Nothing more to add other than really really really looking forward to the next 2 Dr Who episodes!
